New Study Highlights Importance of Food Cold Chain in Reducing Food Waste GHG Emissions

Global Food Cold Chain CouncilThe 21st Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21), the Alliance for Responsible Atmospheric Policy had the opportunity to update the audience on recent industry activities to support the goals of the Paris climate summit.

The release of an innovative new study commissioned by the Alliance-initiated Global Food Cold Chain Council was a key component at the summit.  The study identified an additional annual savings of 180-550 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent if the use of the cold chain to move and store food supplies was expanded in developing countries, thereby reducing food loss and waste.
